To register to vote, you may contact the City Clerk’s office at Encinitas City Hall, 505 South Vulcan Avenue, Encinitas, CA 92024, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may also request an application form by calling the County Register of Voters at (858) 694-5800 or visit their website at http://www.sdvote.com/.
Who May Register:
A person entitled to register to vote must be:
- A United States Citizen
- A resident of California
- At least 18 years of age at the time of the election
When to Register:
You can register anytime. However, to vote in an election, you must be registered at least twenty-nine (29) days before the election.
You Must Re-register If:
- You have changed your residence or mailing address, or
- You have changed your name, or
- You wish to change your political party affiliation.
How to Vote by Absentee Ballot:
Absentee ballots are available twenty-nine (29) days before Election Day. To get your absentee ballot, use the application on the back of your sample ballot. If you wish to receive an absentee ballot by mail, a written application must be on file with the County Registrar of Voters at least seven (7) days before the election. Location of Polling Place:
The polling place address is located on the back of your sample ballot.
Citizen Participation:
The Registrar needs citizens to serve at the polling places and also to provide the polling places that are accessible to the handicapped. If you are interested in providing one or both of these services, please call 1-800-696-0136.
